This week Brian and Brian are flying in to help apply their expertise to the house. Brian (from Florida) has already been down once and kicked ass wiring the house and hooking up all of the electrical to help it pass inspection and get it ready to go. He is flying in today to finish up the electrical work and help us install all of our ceiling fans, lighting, major appliances and help finish wiring the house for a central stereo system and our CAT5.
Brian (from California) is flying in on Monday (same day Summer leaves) and he is going to help with everything. Brian’s is going to help us plan the finishing stages of the house (before we close up the walls), help us make a decision on the Dry Wall dilemma and hopefully either help us build the steps (we need to figure out which wood we are going to use to trim out the rest of the house with so we can use that on the steps) or help us start the bathrooms.

Hi -
Stumbled upon your website by accident looking for “pre-fab” concrete homes in Puerto Rico. Well - life is ironic… my wife and I also purchased land in Puerto Rico (Coamo)this past week. We are from SoCal (Redondo Beach).
I have been reading your blog with interest because we may soon be going through the same scenario. Curious - but why did you move to Puerto Rico?
Good luck with your construction!! Are you doing central AC? I hope so, cause last week was hot and humid!!
Take care!
Chris
Hey Chris…congrats on closing on your house! It wasn’t very easy for us, we were in escrow for 8 months! We had to jump through a bunch of hoops because the house was still under construction….hopefully you didn’t have to go through what we did.
We don’t have central air in the house…the architect designed it to be ‘free flowin’ from room to room and vented the the roof and the top of the walls to help the hot air escape. The front of the house faces directly into the trade winds and we have giant windows and doors to let that cool air circulate through the house. With that said, yes, it has been very hot down here. At night, the breeze stops and it gets hot! We are going to wait until next year and get a few air conditioning units to hang in the offices and bedrooms.
Summer and I both work from the Internet so we can work anywhere there is high speed access. We both surf and either of us wanted to commit the next 30 years of our lives to a $10k a month mortgage in California…so along came puerto rico.
If you have any questions that we may be able to help you with, let us know!
I realize that the wife has been in puerto rico for the last week and I am sure you have been pre-occupied with other duties. I selfishly have 2 requests, 1- has anyone surfed at all, and how was it? 2- more pics and updates on the casa
Chris - Super cool that you and your wife are essentually doing the same thing as Stefan and I! Did you purchase land without a house? Building in PR is all about who you know (luckly, we have been hooked up with the right locals). I just got back to SD and my head is still spinning, just from picking out fans pretty much…haha.
Conner - We have lots to update. I’m going to try and upload some new photos tonight. Stefan needs to take some picture of the progress on the back porch. I forgot to! Unfortunately, no surf lately.
Hey guys,
Looks like things are coming along nicely… to answer your question, we have only the land at the moment.
I seems I am forever renovating my house in Redondo Beach (3+ years and counting. It never ends, heh heh) … but now have visions and fantasies of building a home in PR.
It’s great that both of you have a job that is so location independent. I am jealous.
I think you guys are on to something - and wish you the best of luck!
