After getting a few ridiculous quotes to hang the greenboard in the house, we decided to charge ahead and do it ourselves. Brian Mangen has hung plenty of drywall and is essentially doing all of the cutting and directing us where to hang. Once we finish hanging the greenboard we will hire one of the local guys to tape and mud the seems.
Finding the greenboard was not an easy thing. Home Depot carries 4×8 1/2 inch greenboard but we wanted less seems, and I wanted the fire retardent thicker stuff. I spent a couple hours calling around, dealing with the language barrier until I finally pulled the trigger with a supply store in Mayaguez that would deliver for free called ACHE Trading. We couldn’t get 4×12 board anywhere, but we got the 4×10 fire retardant 5/8’s and were happy enough with that. They delivered 100 sheets of 4×10 and 40 sheets of 4×8 on Thursday and we started hanging.

Brian has been kicking ass and taking names with the electrical work at the house. He has flown in twice from Florida already and is literally getting the house all wired in! Here are some pictures of the fans he hung in the great room. This fan is a 60 inch fan that summer and I picked out together at Home Depot while she was down here.

The last day of his trip here, we decided to completely remodel the master bath and open it up some more so we wouldn’t have to stuff small bathroom fixtures everywhere and be cramped…so he had to work nonstop until late night the night before he left. He was slammed..thanks Brian!
Once I get some good pictures of the new set up in the Master I will post them for everyone to see. Right now it is hard to envision because only the framing is up. It is going to be sick!

We backfilled the trench we dug for the underground electrical last week. Jun cruised in with his backhoe and would have made quick work of the job if we hadn’t added one stipulation. We wanted to keep all of the big rock to use later on as rock for retaining walls, hard scape and eventually to build an outside rock shower/cave (josh’s idea).

These pictures of the rock that we saved may not look that impressive, but we were digging through these piles of dirt looking for them and hand loading them into the backhoe (we filled about 8 wheelbarrows before we decided to wait for hydrological assistance). I don’t think we have enough rock for our entrance wall/gate but we will definitely have enough for a few retaining walls to help with our drainage issues and our outside shower area.

I took Josh to the airport early this week. Josh came down here with me about a month and a half ago and has helped with everything! He is a hands on kinda guy and kicked ass when it came time to do any work around the house. He isn’t the least bit shy when it came to asking questions in stores, he picked up spanish pretty quick and became the mayor of Rincon in a matter of days (everyone knew josh by the time I got back from my week in California).
Thanks Josh!
