Stefan and I have been searching for a sink for the stupid guest bathroom for at least 2 months now, and it’s getting ridiculous. We just want to finish the bathroom, damn it!
The big problem is that everytime we find a sink we like, it only comes in white, which won’t work since the toilet and tub are almond (light beige).
So, I’ve decided that we need to make this decision now. I’ve narrowed it down to three choices and we will let the guest audience (that’s you) decide which sink will be purchase for/installed in our guest bathroom:
Here is a DecoLav brand vessel sink in blue (it is also available in clear, violet, green, cobalt, amber, silver, copper and gold). It’s simple, stylish and only $184. I think this sink would look good since the bold blue will break up all the brown in the guest bathroom (walnut colored tile and almond colored fixtures). Plus, it will compliment the blue paint on the walls, without being too matchy-matchy.
This Porcher “Zen” sink is kind of cool, no? It’s pretty modern without trying to hard to be modern. It’s available in “biscuit”, which I think would match fine with our “almond” fixtures. This Porcher sink is $360, which is getting kind of expensive for the guest bath, but it is a pretty cool vessel sink.
.
This American Standard “Morning” sink is available in white, bone, linen, daydream (blue), beige and black. I would consider this sink in linen or daydream for our bathroom. But would a light blue sink be cute? Or ugly? Will the linen color be to much brown with the brown tile and light brown fixtures? The American Standard “Morning” sink is $255.

Here is a picture of the bathroom that the sink is going to be installed in. Walnut colored travertine tile, almond colored fixtures and brightish blue paint:

My vote is for the first one, blu walls, door, sink: colorful! For that kind of mnoey you can replace it down the road if you really HATE it. Make it the bird bath in the garden if you lose designer sleep once its in place.
Yep, I have to agree. The blue Decolav sink in my favorite. I think the bathroom needs a bit of color with all of the neutral shades it has going on…And the price is definately right!
I have a Fairmont design vanity that came with choice of white or bisquit sink. This is not it but just one vanity/sink combo:

I like how clean and durable the total ceramic sink/counter combo is.
Also, I liked the space saving but my cabinet is prettier but didn’t have time to find. Mine is American Cherry and not so rustic.
Robin, Don’t try and make this harder by giving us more choices! I already narrowed it down to the three sinks above! You must choose from the choices provided ;)…haha
please help I want to know before I buy some land what a modest home would cost to build around 1800 sq feet also I have a opportunity to buy ten minutes form anasco toward the moutains not on a cliff but not flat about 1 and a qaurter ancre for 30 thousand is that a good price?

I voted for the Zen sink…but it is the most expensive. Mike could be right…save the money now and spend it on something in a year or two when we find the right piece of furniture to go in there and find a sink that we think would be perfect. Sorry Robin…I didn’t even look at the sink you suggested…we just want to finish the bathroom, damn it

Your question is pretty loaded…it all depends on what you want.
We bought in Rincon for a few reasons;
1. we surf
2. we work remotely (hard to make money here)
3. Rincon is a surf town on the beach with many gringos (property value in Rincon has been rising for 14 straight years)
4. we were ready to chill (no high expectations on ‘the scene’)
5. we found our dream home
Anasco is just outside of Rincon and has some nice areas. For a place to chill and live, I think $30,0000 is a good price, but expect to put in at least $125,000 to build a house plus permits, power and a couple of dogs. The property value there hasn’t been increasing like here but it has felt the tremors of Rincons property value growth.
Excavation isn’t that expensive here and a lot of the land is comprised of soldid rock…so you can chip into a hill and not worry about land slides etc.
It really comes down to the question of ‘do you want to own a house in Puerto Rico for $175,000?
I just really liked the narrow-ness of the cabinet in my narrow bathroom. AND it sort of works for a person in wheelchair the way the sink sticks out. Now go look, damnit! haha
we do need a narrow area for the sink…we only have about 17” do work with which weighs out a lot of options. The cabinet you showed us is cool…but we are looking at a 4-6 week delivery time for it…which eliminates that option unless we were on it two months ago.
we probably should have just ordered something as soon as we started having difficulties finding something in Puerto Rico.
I did look at the sink and I was impressed by the narrowness (we only have 18″ to work with in our small guest bath and that’s another reason it’s been so hard to find a sink), but we want a vessel style sink. Because we are cool and want a cool sink. Your choice is a bit to country for us Puerto Rican hipsters…haha…just kidding
Actually, we need a sink that I can carry on the airplane (which is another reason we are going vessel), since I havn’t found an online sink store that will ship to Puerto Rico. The plan is to have the sink shipped to my office in California and then I will be the sink mule and lug it back to Puerto Rico.
haha! I got my entire master bath stuff out of Canada off of ebay. It was scary but turned out well and came unbroken and about 1/5th the cost of buying all pieces here at a discount plumbing store. Tons of vessle sinks on ebay. Here ya go in travertine:

Yes, I know there are a ton of vessel sinks on Ebay. So many, in fact, that it’s overwhelming trying to find one…Which is why I’VE NARROWED IT DOWN TO THE THREE ABOVE! Why are you trying to torture me? haha…;)
The glassy DecoLav gets my vote. Nice, simple, and more zen like than the Porcher “Zen” imho.
Bulbboy - You have good taste :). The blue glass DecoLav is my favorite too…
