As I mentioned before, we’ve picked out a dark brown marble for the walls in the master bathroom and a light brown/cream travertine for the floor. Here is a picture of the tiles and trim we spent a good few days trying to decide on. The trim is small travertine tiles accented with copper:

Well, Stefan just told me that Gino (our tile guy) doesn’t like the trim. He thinks it looks too rustic for the marble. What do you think? I still think it looks good and we’re not trying to be all bling-bling marble with gold trim ;).
Stefan already axed my 1st choice of trim, which you can see here. Why doesn’t anyone trust my design ideas? ![]()

Looks great from here! Hope he knows marble requires a special thinset. The marble looks a bit dark from here but if you like, I luv it. Tough to get the big picture with a photo. I always say go with your first gut feeling. Its soooooo easy for others opinions or “expertise” to be confusing. Its your house, you get what you want.
Oops. I forgot to mention he might not like it because the materials are different thicknesses or the trim doesnt have a finshed edge. A good craftsman deals with it easy.
It’s funny you bring up the thinset. We have been looking for two part epoxy thinset for a week now. If we can’t find any at our last place tomorrow…I may be giving you a ring to find out the name/brand of Marble thinset so we can order it online and get this Marble Show on the road again.
Nice, the marble looks like an electrical storm. Going up the wall be careful. Gary did the wall behind master bath and when can lights were turned on it looked aweful because shiny and slight surface unevenness ruined the whole thing. Get a suction thingy to move into perfect level when morter stuff is still workable. It works well on the marble slick surface. I think the suction thingy is actually for pulling up false floors like in computer rooms and stuff. Ask Gary….he is VERY experienced with stone and knows what he hated about some workmanship he paid for. That is why he does it all himself now. Maybe you could kidnap him for a bit.
Home Depot carrys a high grade marble and stone thinset. I though epoxy use usually used on slabs. But the WTF do I know. Sunshine Supply has whatever you might need. I can pick it up and send it to you.
