My Dad arrived in Puerto Rico yesterday and he has already gotten SO much shit done on the house. First of all, he showed up with a tankless water heater for us (and guys thought girls liked flowers…)!

Stefan and I couldn’t find the type of waterheater we wanted here in Puerto Rico and we couldn’t find anyone in the states that would ship one to Puerto Rico, so my Dad tracked one down, lugged it to the airport and drug it all the way down here for us. Of course he got searched profusely at the airport, since security was baffled at why anyone would travel with a waterheater, but hey, that’s what Dads are for, right? haha.
Today, I played plummers assistant to my Dad and he set our sink for the guest bathroom. FINALLY!!!!!

Yes, we not only have a sink, but it also has a faucet that water comes out of. Oh the simple joys of life!

I have been wanting to get the guest bathroom complete for several weeks now and for whatever reasons, it just was never happening (welcome to Puerto Rico
). I was totally content with having a working sink in the bathroom, but when I turned my back for a second Super Fix It Dad installed the above sink lighting and fan as well. Then he made some seriously positive changes to the kitchen cabinetry, covered the marble flooring in the kitchen to avoid scratches AND even cleaned the disgusting toilet downstairs (that the construction guys have been using. Gross.) because he knew I wouldn’t go near the thing.
It’s nice having someone around that knows what he’s doing…My Dad is awesome :)!

Don’t ya just love DIY dads? I think you should get him a super dad t-shirt.
My brother kept ‘borrowing’ my dad to fix his bathroom, so had to plod on mostly without his help. Still, I learned to tile.
Solar heaters is the way to go…you’ll find them really cheap all over the Island…
Bulbboy - Well at least you learned something new! Tiling is sort of like art anyways :). My Dad is going to teach Stefan and I to tile and we’re going to do the downstairs bathroom ourselves. Should be interesting…haha
DJR - We actually looked into a solar waterheater previously, but our roof is not flat, and there was another reason why it wouldn’t work (I forget at the moment). Stefan did a bunch of research and we ended up with a tankless On Demand propane waterheater.
We can’t put it on the roof because it is made of commercial grade aluminum. That type of roof will last forever if we don’t poke any holes in it. Weighing the options, our next best option to solar was a gas powered on-demand tankless heater.
I have similar sinks in my guest bathroom… those really are nice, aren’t they?
The vessel sinks are really cool. I like them BIG so it’s easy to wash my face. It’s so very nice to have a sink to wash my face and brush my teeth in again. Yay!!
