Today was a huge day. Not only did we pour the cement slab in the back and mow the lawn, we also had the granite countertops in the kitchen installed:

After riding the decision merry-go-round, Stefan and I purchased our granite counter tops for the Home Depot in Mayaguez (cost was $4500). Home Depot told us that it would take 5 - 6 weeks to have the counters installed, but it only took 2 weeks!
I really, really, really like the way they came out too. The kitchen counters are now a tan/brown/black tiger stripe looking granite. I think it pulls together the stainless/black appliances and mahogony cabinets perfectly.
Now we just have to get that ugly green off the walls. ![]()

I LaLa LOVE it! I think that is the Tiger Skin granite I was looking at online.
The granite really is cool. It has little sparkles in it (like Kimberly and Robs guest bath granite) that Summer and I both really like and the colors in the rock bring the look and feel of the kitchen together. Even the pattern is much cooler now that we have a giant slab of it instead of a 6′x 6′ sample piece.
looks good!
I don’t like that green reflecting into the granite. New color should consider reflection. You may have to just go with a Crema Marfil color for the walls because of reflection or toned down color in the granite for walls. OK, enough of my 2 cents for now!
Robin - Yes, we are thinking an off-white will be perfect for the walls.
It will look really nice in the off white. My kitchen is done with the cool granite/offwhite walls and it looks really nice with the faux-mahogany (some other dyed wood), and stainless steel appliances.
