It’s Time for a New(ish) Car(s)
I think Stefan and I are both in agreement on this one. We need a new car (or two). The Bronco that we bought is a hoopty. The radiator blew up, the windows no longer roll up (and we busted one out trying to force it up), the rear window only rolls up if you press on the sweet spot on the tailgate, the AC doesn’t work, the transmission is days away from dropping out, the driver side seat doesn’t lock into place so it slides back and forth when you are trying to drive, the brakes are fucked (for lack of a better description), the smokey exhaust fills the cab with carbon monoxide, it burns through gas/oil/transmission fluid like it’s going out of style, the windshield wipers work great, until it actually rains, the seats are so soggy/mildewed that we have to sit on big black trashbags, etc. Seriously. I could go on about the Bronco…
Stefan and I don’t mind roughing it. We actually enjoy it (to a certain extent). But, now that I’m down here fulltime(ish), we really do need two cars and I think it’s time to start looking.
Summer’s Puerto Rican car wishlist: Jeep Wrangler or Toyota 4Runner. White. Standard transmission, 4-wheel drive, 6-cylinders, under $10K.

We were trying to hold out until after taxes, but I think it’s time to start shopping…

All good choices, I have a 2003 4Runner myself which has had absolutely no problems
Are you guys looking at new/used? Reason behind this, one of my dearest friends on the island, her dad owns the Nissan/Kia dealership in Ponce, which conveniently is also where a lot of used rental fleet Jeeps from both PR and the US end up.

we moving my family is also , what great website with all the info to get from , it’s good idea to get both vehicles get rid found on road dead (ford haha)i’m joking, i love it here it’s great ..

I gave the daughter a call, and she’s gonna ask her dad tomorrow. Conversely (and this is just coincidental), I’m also fairly good friends or at least connected to about 6 San Juan area dealerships.
One last thing, if you can get a good deal in the mainland (specifically Jacksonville, FL), several people I know have bought cars there and shipped them here. It has to be an insanely good deal though since the excise taxes once it gets here are completely fucked (I paid $6800 in taxes to bring my 4Runner here!), plus $800 to put it on a boat from Jacksonville to San Juan.

I just got off the phone with their sales manager- they have 2 ’06 Wranglers in stock… as for the toyotas, they want more details, specs, 4X4, etc

Robert, That really nice of you, muchas gracias! We found a Toyota Tacoma for Stefan today, so I think we might wait a couple more months before we get a Jeep. I will send you an email when I start looking. Thanks again
