Hardwood Floor Installation – Progress Report

Author: Stefan | Filed under: Flooring

Brian got down a couple of days ago. It’s been great having a buddy around that really knows what he is doing. He has been installing hardwood floors for years and rolled in with all the right tools and brain power to get it done right.

As you can see, it is factory pre-finished tongue and groove hardwood floors.

After lining up how the floor is going to be installed, it is time to take wood out of the boxes and line them up so that the cracks do not overlap each other for at leas two boards. This is called ‘racking’. Once the racking is done for about 6 rows (30-60ft accross) brian cruises on in there with his pneumatic nail gun and throws in some staples. Don’t get me wrong, these aren’t the kind of staples you would use to send stapled receipts to the tax guy. These staples are Bostich 2 inch by half a doo-hickey strong staples that are put in to each board with 120 pounds of air. Strong stuff….

Beautiful! I am so excited for your masterpiece home! Are you going to have a landing of crema marfil at the doorways so people don’t mess up your wood. Gary is now neurotic about our wood floors. I don’t dare scratch it or put a drop of water or I may be divorced.

The Brazilian Teak looks great. Teak is termite proof so that will be a real nice perk too…

Since when did guys get tramp-stamps?

Floor looks nice. I stopped in PR in September on the way to the DR. I saw someone on the plane that I thought might have been you!

Where is Shawn BTW? Does he visit?

    Shawn:
That tramp stamp comment is funny…but consider yourself lucky you didn’t say it to Brian face-to-face! :-)

    Joan:
We will be stopping by again…thanks for the offer of plants…we need as many as we can get.

The floors look SOOOO nice. I’m so stoked that Brian and Jamie are installing them for us. It’s nice to have some people around that know what they’re doing :) !

Shawn – Haha. Even Brian thought the tramp stamp comment was funny. Don’t make Stefan show you his sun tattoo on his ankle. Those Jersey boys sure do know how to pick their tattoos! (Actually I think they both got their tattoos in the back of someones house when they were underage. And as Brian said, “It wasn’t a tramp stamp when I got it!”)

I flew a couple of time in September, but both times were in/out of the Aguadilla airport.

I was just thinking – I wonder if Summer read my post…

Well I guess that wasn’t you then.

We hope to be moving to the D.R. once we sell our house here. Surfing is OK in Sosua, so I should finally be able to hit the waves again after 16 years of being too far north. (waves are great here if you are able to be cold, I have no body fat so I would die.)
