I know, I know! We haven’t been posting our progress on the blog as much as we used to. Summer and I have both been super busy and have been trying to make an effort to keep everyone updated…so here’s an update.
Yesterday, one of the American plumbers that has lived down here since 1987 came to the house and started installing our reverse osmosis water filtration system, faucet and garbage disposal. It should be done today which will give us a fully functioning kitchen. Way better than our old one on the back porch.

Jamie and Brian both brought down some fresh tastykakes for us to stock our kitchen with. I don’t think they are going to last too long ![]()

Oh god… Tastykakes! I’m officially extremely jealous
Robert:
We have had an unlimited supply of Tastykakes in the house for 7 days now and summer swears she already sees that I have been eating them nonstop…it’s time for me to ease off on the tastykakes…lol
The sink and faucet look way cooler in person. Stefan, you need to take a better picture! Sheesh!
I had my 1st Tastykake (the butterscotch iced one), it was okay. I’m glad I don’t love junk food :D…haha
So… funny story. My birthday is coming up, and I was just gonna go surf, maybe get drunk.. nothing too big. I just booked a ticket to Florida to go to Disneyworld and stop by a grocery store for Tastykakes. They’re that good.
I do however have a huge stack of In N Out drink cups here
Now, all I need is a burger and I’ll be set
Nobody bakes a cake as tasty as a Tastykake!
Robert - Haha…that is awesome. Tastykakes, a few cocktails and Disneyworld for your birthday, isn’t a bad combo.
I’m currently in San Diego, so let me know if you guys need me to Fedex some In N Out burgers to the island…
My tongue is sweating (???) after seeing those tastekakes. would you mind to send them to me?
Are Tastycakes everywhere in the country except the midwest? I’m fairly certain I’ve never heard of them up here in the MI!
They look… well, tasty!
Jack - I’d be happy to send them to you…We are going to end up muy gordo if we keep eating them
Jashana - I think Tastykakes must be an East Coast thing. We definately didn’t have them in California.
Summer.. they’re not even an east coast thing, they’re a northeast thing. I grew up in Boston, so I knew them intensely and personally. Thanks to all of the Snowbirds heading to Florida for the winter, and the large amount of New Yorkers living in Florida, I know I’ll be able to get it in the sunshine state. Maybe I’ll bring some Yuengling abck as well
I love the sink and faucet that is very similar to what I am hoping for. Except I can only do a 23″ wide sink. So where’d you get yours? I was scoping out Ikeas so far.
Alicia & Brad:
We got the sink and faucet at Faucet.com
I had an excellent experience with them. We received our shipment within 3 days of placing the online order and got exactly what we wanted. The only disappointing thing about the set-up is that the faucet (which was not cheap) came with a base unit that was flimsy. We have to pack it out with hard puddy and then re-attach the faucet.
