Damn you, westelm.com! I found the perfect day bed for our guest bedroom and they won’t ship to Puerto Rico.

A day bed seems like the perfect solution for our guest bedroom. Since there is a queen size bed in the loft area, we’ve been going back and forth on if we were going to get another bed or perhaps a pull out couch or something along those lines.
Cool daybed = bueno, West Elm’s shipping policy = no bueno! ![]()

Berrios in Ponce has some decent stuff. We found a pedastal bed we liked but the frame would have added another almost foot to the width and our room isn’t that big. It even had a low headboard which is important to us so it wouldn’t block the window. They do have some foton type couch beds we are considering for our TV room/additional guest room. We are gonna wait since I am tired of shopping and we don’t need it yet. Our plan though is to have one dedicated “guest” room with a double bed and the other rooms will be set up for practical use by us (which means a daybed/foton/couch). Berrios is everywhere and they deliver free.
That is so 1940’s which your great-grandfather’s house (Q) was decorated as. I still have one piece of that furnature….sold the rest.
what I’ve done in the past with success is instead of:
“San Juan, PR 00907″ is write
“San Juan, PA 00907″
However, try that at your own risk
You could always go to the store down in San Diego and ship it to yourself next visit.
I love that day bed too…
Katrina - I don’t think I’ve been in the Berrios yet, so I will surely check it out. I guess I’m so used to finding exactly what I want on the internet (with out having to spend a day or a week driving around), and having it shipped for less then the cost of gas. That is one very frustrating thing about Puerto Rico (the lack of recognition that we are part of the USA and it’s okay/easy to ship here!!)
Robin - Well, a lot of good that does me…;) Just kidding. I think I know what piece of furniture you still have. It’s a chair, right?
Robert - Ha. I just tried that yesterday (not with westelm, but another website), so we’ll see if it makes it…
Alicia - Trust me, I’ve thought about it…Technically I could have it shipped to my office in San Diego and have them re-ship it to me in Puerto Rico, but I hate paying double shipping (especially when it’s $100 for a heavy furniture type item), when I really shouldn’t have to. If I like it enough, I will do that though…
P.S. A friend just told me that West Elm is opening a store in San Juan, Puerto Rico…But, no one seems to know when.
Nope, it is a dark dresser, very well made, actually mahogany stained dark. Rykers bought the round table and end tables and stripped and I think Meadow ended up with. I sold the chairs as well. Guess you would have liked them they had fabric seats that were pink and green stripes! Your step grammy, Ruby, liked that oriental look.
Website says winter 2008 A long time….
Have you seen this new site. http://www.cb2.com
Here is that other place I was telling you about http://www.balistyle.net/
Summer… I have yet to try it with an expensive item, but my success has been with hockeygiant.com, amazon (they won’t freaking ship Wacom tablets to Puerto Rico… I’M A GRAPHIC DESIGNER!!! AHHH!) and whiskeymilitia.com.
A local friend has had success with B&H Photo.
The ZIP Code has to be 100% correct though, because that’s the first thing that gets looked it. All of my items arrived perfectly, with PR written over PA in pen (like if someone at the processing center noticed the “mistake”). Thank god there isn’t a San Juan in Pennsylvania, otherwise there’d be trouble
West Elm, opening Spring 2008 in Plaza Las Americas. I was just there, and it’s gonna be in front of Borders.
