So Itchy, What is That?

Author: Stefan | Filed under: Puerto Rico

I haven’t really noticed exactly what was itching for the past two days (itching is a very common thing this time of year in Puerto Rico because of all the Pica Pica) but I have been scratching as needed. Yesterday, I realized that it wasn’t Pica Pica, that it is some sort of rash, but I don’t know what it is from: sea lice? allergy to another plant?

Have any of you seen this? Can you identify this itchy rash on my back?

The welts I have on my back are from Sea Lice! Crazy, sea lice bites me, but I have never had welts. I guess the sea lice in Puerto Rico is vicious!

It looks like welts from a jellyfish.

Jellyfish would be better than worms crawling under your skin.

Sea lice are actually really small jellyfish, so that would make sense.

Hey I don’t know if this is true, but I found this question on Yahoo Answers that says that sea lice is actually an incorrect term for what you have. Supposively sea lice on bite fish, not humans. This might be caused by jellyfish Larvae. Again, I am only reading what this says. Goodluck:

That is a sign of “I need a doctor!” LOL!

Seriously, go get checked up. It could be nothing, as I myself have allergic reactions where I get my skin inflamed. But I have seen a doctor and I know that for a fact. You need to get the facts.

This is the tropics, there are a lot of nasty stuff in the air that you wouldn’t normal have to deal with in a big US city.

OK, I made a mistake and didn’t read the quote below your photo. I see, it’s from Sea Lice. Please delete my comments.

I get the same exact welts on me during the night. I do not live anywhere near the sea. (I’m in Michigan) I think mine is a food allergy. I’ve researched it and it seems additives in food might be the culpret. I’ve even looked into bedbugs. (ewww) and see no signs at all of them. Good Luck and God Bless.
