Spring time is definitely upon us here in Rincon. For the past week we have had our fair share of rain and warm weather. The plants in the yard are absolutely loving the daily soaking, Summer and I are loving how much easier it is to work the soil when it is wet/moist and all of the animals in town are showboating their new offspring.
Everywhere we go there are cute baby animals checking us out, running away from us or just plain old ignoring us. Here are a few cute pics of the baby animals of Rincon:

Funny thing about the baby horse…well, more funny lesson that I learned about baby horses. They sleep lying down. I know, I know. Of course they sleep lying down, right? Well, I didn’t grow up on a farm or around horses and I didn’t know that. A couple weeks ago, before it started raining and it was as dry as it gets here in Rincon, I drove by this pasture with the baby horse and noticed the two adult horses nudging the baby horse (which was lying down). The baby wasn’t moving! I stopped the car and got out to take a close look. I tried to see if the baby was breathing from a distance and couldn’t tell. I immediately thought the worst and decided that the baby horse didn’t make it through his/her first couple of weeks of life. I was devastated. I called my buddy Mark to see if he knew who’s horses they were and that i thought the baby had died and then I talked to Julie (Rincon Cowgirl Extraordinaire). She said I was the third person to contact her about the baby and assured me that it was just fine. Baby horses need sleep she told me, and they sleep lying down.
Beautiful pictures and funny about thinking that the pony was dead, but not unusual. I love the puppy too. You mentioned Julie from Pintos R Us, her business partner Cindy just left NJ from a brief vacation, we had dinner together..small Rincon world!
How is the pica pica at this time? I heard it is still in the air…can’t understand it, it usually gone by now, washed away or something.

Lots of reproducing here too but NO RAIN (we are waiting). I have to haul hoses down to the vetiver (it’s been in almost 3 weeks) and I put out batata amarilla and peppers and lemon grass. Once the rains come it’ll be mangosteen and other things from Montoso…I didn’t want to maintain things through the dry season. Baby cows, baby chicks (we have a Red Jungle Fowl sitting on eggs way up on our hill under some tree roots), kittens, baby horses. All the trees are blooming and fruiting too. As soon as they finish it all starts up again! katrina
Rosa:
After the first major rain the Pica Pica ‘dust’ washed off of everything exposed to the elements but there were still a few pods left hanging around. We had a good couple of days of rain last week and the past 4 days have been gloriously wet and muddy on the property and all the pods have dropped to the ground. I didn’t notice the ‘lack’ of constant itch until last night when I put on a t-shirt that I haven’t worn in a while and started itching. I’m gonna say that it shouldn’t be bad at your house…but I would definitely change out the sheets before you crawl into bed on your first night.

We have been hauling 200ft of hose around our yard trying to plant the 100 or sow plants we bought at Montoso all winter. Summer and I made a deal with each other that we wouldn’t buy anymore plants until we had all of the current ones in the ground. We are three plants away from completing the task, then its off to the nursery to buy some Neem trees, Guanacaste trees and more citrus. I’d also like to track down some bamboo to plant around our property line…do you guys have any suggestions where/how to dig it up or buy it?
Van liked the baby cow and the puppy dog… He said doddie, when he saw them!
