Garden 2.2

Author: Summer | Filed under: Gardening, Plants, Yard

I’ve been working on Garden 2.0, and it has now become Garden 2.2:

puerto rico garden

I have transplanted 3 healthy Tigerella tomato plants, 3 purple bell pepper plants, one spicy pepper and 6 spicy mesculin lettuces from the small backyard garden (Lucky, the seeds I planted produced enough plants for the front and back gardens!). I have also planted a row of lemon cucumbers, edamame and red oak leaf lettuce from seed. In the corners of the planter I planted 4 small rosemary plants and I also planted some marigolds around the edges (to ward away pests).

I also want to plant two more rows of heirloom tomatoes and one more row of lettuce. That should fill up the planter completely and give us a good variety of vegetables to use :) .

Rosemary gets HUGE and will take up half of that row…leave room! Are you going up with the lemon cucumbers? They are really neat on fencing or trellises! We just started lettuce and suspect we will have some in a few days. Gardening is great here! katrina

I’m jealous of the rosemary. It’s a disposable plant here in Dayton Ohio. *sigh*

    Try making rosemary bread.

That’s it I am moving to PR and becoming a vegan! All those homegrown veggies sound great! they probably test so much better because you did the leg work, we appreciate things that we create alot more than just going to Wegman’s and buying the best of the best.

Ok, I lied, I can’t become Vegan….I am probably not even spelling it right…I just LOVE red meat, chicken, fish. Well, congratulations on a great garden, Enjoy.

I agree with Katrina: rosemary will get huge. Might want to transplant it again when it gets bigger (but not too big) to form a rosemary hedge somewhere near the house: rosemary smells nice and its tiny flowers look so cute.
Rosemary bread – now that’s an old friend I somehow forgot about. Thanks for the tip, Amanda.

Previously, I seem to remember you planted some plants to keep mosquitoes away..

My new yard in Florida is like the Indianapolis 500 for mosquitoes, what can I plant that will help?

If you ever get into that ‘previously’ situation again…use the search bar and type one of the keywords…like say “MOSQUITO!”.
