Here is a pretty bouquet I made from clipping from the yard!

I clipped some red and yellow heliconias, deep pink ginger flowers, areca palm frans and a giant tahitian torch ginger flower (from Mark). I got the idea after trimming up the front planters and thinking that it was a waste to throw away such pretty flowers…So I stuck them in a vase and made Stefan admire them. Then the wind promptly blew the vase over and broke it (yes, we really do get a strong breeze through our house), so I had to throw out the bouquet. Oh well…At least I got a picture…ha.
Beautiful flowers! And the vase was great for that type of flowers, oh well, that calls for another trip to Marshalls/Homegoods, to get other vase.
I did the same thing when we first came here - top heavy arrangement, wind and a busted vase. 2 things about arrangements: 1 buy marbles to load up the bottom 1/3 of the vase (adds weight and helps hold stems in place) 2) hose things off before bringing them in - ants and other things crawl out of the gingers! Check your gingers for snoozing geckos at night, they use the petals like little hammocks! katrina
Oh - Walmart has vases for $3 in several different shapes, large ones. Simple glass but functional and pretty with colored marbles in them.
