The Master Bathroom is Evolving
While our blog has been awfully silent for the last couple of weeks, we have actually made some great progress on the house. We have had a non-stop stream of friends coming to visit, so it’s been hard enough trying to get work done, let alone blog about it, but I’m going to try and play catch up here
.
We finally have made some serious progress on the finishing up the master bath! It’s been really tough making a decision on what exactly to do, and it seems like every time we find something we like, it’s just not available here in Puerto Rico. We couldn’t find granite that we loved, so we decided to have marble cut for around the jacuzzi tub and master vanity countertops. We ended up using the same color (Creme Marfel) as we used on the kitchen floors, because it is a nice, pretty neutral color. Since we used dark brown marble for the wetroom/shower area, we wanted to stay away from anything too dark. Here are some photos of the tub area evolving:

The marble cost around $2800 installed, but I’m glad we pulled the trigger finally and it’s done! I wasn’t exactly impressed with the work that the marble people did, but it’s not horrible. Home Depot did a much better job for the granite in our kitchen (unfortunately they did not have what we needed for our bathroom, otherwise we would have used them again).

I really like it, I love the tall ceilings too. I do not have a jacuzzi tub in PR, but we do in NJ, and in the winter there is nothing better…People would tell us not to get it because you use it once and that is it, sorry but we use it lots of times. Enjoy.

Thank God you finally posted! I get worried when you two are too quiet. The master bath looks great. Better start thinking about the nursery.

Rosa – Thanks! Everyone has looked at us weird about the jacuzzi tub because the weather is so warm here, but I LOVE taking baths and it really does get cold at night (well, in the 60’s sometimes
…).
Karen – I know, I know. We have been slacking off. Well, not really, I’ve been in San Diego/Vegas for the past two weeks and like I mentioned we have had NON-STOP guests for the past 2 – 3 months. We have lots of catching up to do (and a nursery to decorate in pink)!!

in pink! WOW. Yesterday I shopped for newborn baby girl stuff (one of Bob’s employees had a girl on Tuesday). SO MANY cute things, and so many organic clothes. I love it.

That’s one huge piece of marble! Really nice look to it. I thought you’d rather have a hot tub outside to relax in and look up at the night sky. There’s no reason why you couldn’t do that as well at a later date I suppose.
Is there much light pollution in Rincon at night, do you see tons of stars?

Bulbboy:
It isn’t exactly a hot tub, it is a jacuzzi tub. It is a glorified bath tub: Bigger, Has Jets and a heater to keep the water warm…but you can still have soap in it and take a bath. One day, when we have the loot, we’ll build a pool/hot tub in the back yard.
We have tons of stars….
