The Master Bathroom is DONE!
I never thought I’d see the day, but the master bathroom is done!

We bought the jacuzzi tub well over a year ago and have proceeded to move it around our little construction mess for this long, so it’s nice to see it finally installed and working! We were joking about how “funny” it would be if we finally got it installed and it didn’t work and the warranty was expired…
Our friend Roberto (over at Villa Orleans) did us a favor and finished the vanity cabinets for us, Trey finished up the trim work around the windows, Stefan installed the light fixtures and Kelly from American Plumbing installed the tub, sinks and faucets. And I, um, hung the mirrors…haha.
Of course, there were little speed bumps along the way, which is just something that you have to deal with in Puerto Rico. Such as, trying to find contemporary sinks that we liked. We build the vanities with the intention of getting above the counter mount sinks, but we did not want another glass vessel sink like we installed in the guest bathroom (glass sinks get gnarly waterspots and NEVER look clean). So, we searched for a least a couple of months, trying to find cool, porcelain above the counter mount sinks in Puerto Rico. We finally found a style that we both loved, and even though they were pricey ($400 per sink), we just wanted to move on so we told the sales lady we would take two! Of course, in true Puerto Rico fashion, they only had one, so we left empty handed. Again. That was probably a blessing in disguise because I ended up buying the sinks online for $125 each, which included shipping to Puerto Rico. Score! Another problem we had was finding a faucet (roman tub filler) for the jacuzzi tub. Home Depot had all of none to choose from and again I turned to the wonderful internet. I found the Roman tub faucet for our tub online and it was exactly what we wanted and it was 60% off retail! (Which is awesome since this one was originally $1100! Yikes!)
All in all, it seems like things are starting to finally come together around the house and projects are moving along at a much quicker pace. I think that is because we have learned a LOT from trial and error and now know who’s going to show up to work and what store is most likely to have what we need. The 1st year of this construction project was comparable to a bunch of chickens running around with their heads lopped off…I’m glad that part is over

After a couple hours underwater a good soak sounds great – I think I’ve adapted to Puerto Rico weather…its been chilly lately! 66 the last couple nights. I’m jealous of the tub, our bathrooms are too small for one. katrina

Carol:
We have a toilet and a two headed shower in the ‘wet room’ which is to the left of the ‘his’ area. I’ll take a few snap shots and add them to this post.
We have a door to the wet room and toilet, but not to the tub and his/her vanities. They are in the corner of the master bedroom (which has a door)

Hello! Cruising around in google your site came up. I am so happy to see the fruits of your labor! We stay at an apartment @ Macor by the Sea (its my fathers in law). And I am happy to know they have opened a new supermarket, I agree about Econo its not good at all, but no supermarkets are here… I will never have a supermarket like Publix (Fla.) again. Now I am used to the idea… But the reason I am writing is to find out what where the web sites you used to find bathroom remodeling supplies? Thanks!
Congrats on everything!!!!!

Gil – That depends on what sort of business you are planning to start. I see TONS of opportunity for making money in Rincon (with the right plan).
