We have all kinds of pictures of the house through different stages of construction, but they all focus on the house. More than ever, Summer and I are learning that a house is just a house, it becomes a home over the years you live there, customize things, learn your neighborhood and work the dirt.

Sydney and I went for a hike in her new baby backpack (see video on my blog) last week. I hiked up the 414 and around the ridge line of our valley up into Rio Grande and the headed back down toward Rincon and our house. I ended up on the wrong side of the valley when we got back down and had to cut through the woods (sketchy with all the pica pica) to get home in time for Sydneys bed time routine. We are only about a 5 minute walk from downtown, but as you’ll see in the picture below of our house, we are still situated nicely on our own little hill in the valley where no one can build up 6-8ft away from us.

There is an old water tank about halfway up the hill from our house that has great views. It is a big square concrete structure that sits on the edge of the hill and affords great views of downtown Rincon and the marina. Coincidentally, it also has a great view of our home.
